Affiliate disclosure
We earn a commission when you buy through a link on this site. Here is exactly what that means and what it does not.
The disclosure, in one paragraph
Nib & Notebook is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click a buy link on this site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. You pay nothing extra — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your price.
What that does not change
- Which products we recommend. Picks are chosen on the criteria set out in how we choose, and commission is not one of them.
- The order they appear in. Nobody has paid for a position on this site and nobody could.
- What we say about them. Every recommendation on this site carries a “skip this if” line naming the buyer it is wrong for. That rule exists to stop commission quietly shaping the copy.
A concrete example, since assurances are cheap: our answer to are fountain pens worth it tells you to spend under ten dollars on a disposable pen and a cheap notebook to find out, rather than pointing you at the expensive pen we would earn more from.
Which programs we are in
Amazon Associates, and at the time of writing nothing else. We are not currently part of any CJ or Awin advertiser program, and no link on this site is tracked through either network. If that changes, this page changes with it, on the same day.
Every outbound commercial link here carries rel="sponsored nofollow", which is how search engines are told a link is compensated.
Where prices come from
No price on this site is typed into the copy. Prices are read from a live data layer that refreshes daily, and every displayed price carries the date it was checked.
The live feed currently has no fresh prices, so every buy button reads “check price on Amazon” rather than showing a figure. That is the designed behavior: a stale price is worse than no price.
Prices at the retailer change constantly and are not under our control. The price you see at checkout is the price that applies.
What we have not been given
No free products, no samples, no review units, no sponsored posts, no gifted stationery and no payment from any manufacturer or retailer other than affiliate commission on completed purchases. We have also not hands-on tested any of the products we write about, which is set out at length on how we choose.
Per-page disclosure
This notice also appears above the first buy button on every page of this site that recommends a product, because a disclosure nobody sees is not a disclosure.
