A prompted journal solves a real problem: the blank page. When the question is already printed at the top, the decision about what to write has been made for you, and that decision is what stops most people.
It also introduces a problem that is rarely mentioned. A prompted journal has to print on every page, which pushes manufacturers toward thinner, cheaper paper — and thin paper with a fountain pen is where this site started.

The idea is a single book for a year: thin paper, high page count, and a date grid printed at the top of every page so you do not have to write one.
Stalogy does not publish a weight, and the buyer feedback on its own listing is openly divided on bleed-through — some inks are fine, some are not. That division is what thin paper looks like when it is well made but still thin.
Ghosting is guaranteed. Whether it bothers you is a matter of taste, and some people like it.

The structure is genuinely excellent: numbered pages, an index you fill in yourself, two ribbons and a pocket. Nothing else at this price is as well organized out of the box.
The paper is the argument against. Read the buyer feedback on the maker's own listing and it splits down the middle on bleed-through — which is exactly what happens when paper is adequate for a dry nib and marginal for a wet one.
If you write with a fine nib and a dry ink, this is a fine book. If you have just bought a broad nib and a wet blue, it is the wrong one.

100 gsm is the number that removes the argument. At that weight a wet medium nib is comfortable and a broad is workable, which is not true of the 70-80 gsm books this competes against.
The format copies the structured-journal template closely — hardcover, elastic, pocket, ribbon — so you are not trading features for the paper.
Cream paper warms every ink slightly. If you have chosen a color carefully, it will not look the same here as on white.

The honest recommendation
We could not identify a prompted journal that publishes a paper weight high enough for us to recommend it for fountain pen use on the basis of its own specification. That is a real finding rather than an oversight, and it is why the picks above are dated and structured notebooks rather than question-per-page journals.
The Stalogy 365 prints a date and time grid on every page, which is the lightest possible structure. The Leuchtturm and the Dingbats give you numbered pages and an index without printing anything through the writing area.
The cheaper approach
Buy a notebook with paper you like, and use a prompt list beside it. You get the same removal of decision without paying a premium for printing, and you can change the prompts when a set stops working.
Write the prompt at the top of the page in your own hand. It takes five seconds and it makes the page yours rather than a form to fill in.
If you do buy a prompted journal
- Check the paper weight before ordering. If the listing does not state one, assume it is thin — that is what unstated usually means in this category.
- Use a fine nib and a dry ink. Inks for cheap paper is the relevant page.
- Accept one-sided writing. On thin printed stock, using one side only is often the honest answer.
What a dated journal gives you instead
A date printed on each page is a much weaker structure than a question, and for a lot of people it is enough. It removes the small friction of writing the date, and it makes a missed day visible without making it a failure.
